Implementation of Bio Gas Management from Kitchen Waste
Solid waste is a potential source of energy in the biogas plant that produces natural gas as well as electric power.In Bangladesh, kitchen waste contributes to about 50% of the total solid waste in urban area. Utilizing kitchen waste in the biogas plant may reduce the burden of solid waste and could be one of the potential sources of renewable energy in Bangladesh. We started the implementation stage by creating and increasing awareness among the community about the benefits of biogas as an environment friendly energy source. The next stages were followed by construction of the biogas digester, the use of biogas as an energy source (filling and maintaining the digester), and the use of sludge as fertilizer. We implemented the project in association with Neer Sheba Kendro in Gazipur City Corporation area.
