Bangladesh government is aiming to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels and is committed to increase the energy generation from renewable resources to decrease the emission of greenhouse gases, as well as global warming. As the number of animal and poultry farms in Bangladesh is increasing annually, the number of farm wastes is also increasing simultaneously. Large quantity of animal waste production in Bangladesh has spurred the demand of potential applications forwaste management. Therefore, biofuel production from animal waste has been projected as the solution for animalwaste managementalong with the potential of a new source of renewable energy. We started the implementation stage by creating and increasing awareness among the community about the benefits of biogas as an environment friendly energy source. The next stages were followed by construction of the biogas digester, the use of biogas as an energy source (filling and maintaining the digester), and the use of sludge as fertilizer. We implemented the project in association with Natun Zibon Rochi (Nazir) in Khulna City Corporation area.
