Social Awareness Program for Helpless, Hardcore Poor & Underprivileged Women of Remote Areas
Despite substantial progresses in the reduction of poverty in Bangladesh, a large portion of women, however, are still suffering from the severity of poverty. Poor women have less capacity to adjust with different socio-economic, cultural and environmental trajectories as well as more susceptible to health hazards and worsening nutritional situation. We worked for building awareness about womens sense of self-worth; self-confidence; their right to have and to determine choices; their right to have access to opportunities and resources; their right to have power to control their own lives, both within and outside the home; and their ability to influence the direction of social change to create a more just social and economic order, and for perpetuating gender discrimination and inequality. Under this project, awareness among helpless, hardcore poor and vulnerable women were built so that the women can also understand the standard of living, nutrition, importance of safe water, sanitization, hygiene etc for themselves and their family as they handle all of the main household tasks including cooking, cleaning, laundry etc. We worked for 12 months in coordination with Momenshahi Agro Limited in Gangni, Meherpur.
